A land of extremes, Chile is a favorite among travelers for its majestic glaciers and fjords, high deserts and volcanoes. Starting from the North, the Atacama Desert is the driest place on earth. Its surreal and vast landscape is much like the moon’s, so much so that NASA tested Martian rovers here. Geysers and hot springs dot the barren, high altitude plateau.

In the interior, the Central Valley is clearly respected as a world-class destination as the source for the best South American wines. Enjoy a sip at a small boutique vineyard that specializes in a pinot noir or a cabernet.

Patagonia is a highlight for trekkers and hikers who prefer solitude over crowds. With such a limited high season, demand is high for the best eco-lodges. In return, visitors will be delighted by never-ending trails, endless blue skies, and remarkable mountain scenery.

CHILE’S COAST, WINERIES AND EASTER ISLAND – 8 Days

• DAY 1:
  Arrive Santiago, Chile. Private transfer to hotel to rest until afternoon private city tour.
  • Typically most flights arrive early morning after a red-eye departing the night before from the USA. If your hotel room is not quite ready upon arrival, then you’ll do the city tour first, then relax in the afternoon.
• DAY 2:
  Private full day exploration of Valparaiso and Vina del Mar, overnighting in Valparaiso.

  Full day exploration of Casablanca Valley to enjoy wineries. Return to Santiago and overnight in convenient airport hotel.

• DAY 4:
  Self-transfer to airport located across the street for your morning flight (6 hrs). Upon arrival, you’ll be taken to your hotel (shared transfer) and have the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

• DAYS 5 & 6:During the next two days, you’ll join daily shared small group excursions that are a mix of two half-day trips and a full day trip. The order of excursions will depend on your arrival day. On the day with two half day excursions, you’ll return to town for lunch.

  Morning Half-day Excursion #1 (3.5 hours) includes:
  From the top we have a wonderful view of the sea, crater, and town of Hanga Roa. We will visit the ceremonial site and village of “Orongo” with 53 houses with unique design. Numerous petroglyphs can also be observed in the site. Then, transfer to the site of Vinapu, where the stones look like the ruins of Machu Pichu. We continue with the visit of the cave ANA KAI TANGATA and its impressive cave paintings.

  Afternoon Half-day Excursion #2 (3.5 hours) includes:
  Half day regular excursion with English speaking guide to the sector of “Ahu Akivi”. Our journey begins at the ceremonial site of “Tahai” where we find remains of the Rapa Nui culture at its height. Then we visit Ahu Akivi (a platform with 7 restored moai) and the cave Ana Te Pahu, one of the largest in the island. Our tour ends at the quarry of Puna Pau where the Pukao (topknots of the moai) were carved. Return to the village.

  Full Day Excursion (7.5 hours):
  Full day to the Rano Raraku volcano and surroundings. Our journey begins on the southern coast of the island, at the archaeological un-restored site of Vaihu. After visiting the archaeological site of Akahanga where the famous king Hotu Matua is supposedly buried, we arrive at one of the most important and greatest attractions of Easter Island: Volcano Rano Raraku, Almost all the moai were carved in its quarries. We can reach the crater and observe many moai still lying unfinished. We continue towards “Ahu Tongariki” where 15 moai stands aligned, to get finally to “Te Pito Kura” where we can admire a huge moai, the highest ever lifted on an ahu. Our tour ends at the beautiful beach of Anakena, with golden sand and numerous palm trees. Return to the hotel.

  Day at leisure to explore on your own. Return to your favorite ruins, head to the beach, or wander around the village.
